SITUATION

GICW operated on Microsoft Dynamics GP alongside a homegrown purchase order and expense reporting system. The organization’s technology stack, while functional, was constraining resources. Limited visibility among finance, purchasing, and store teams often created confusion and manual workarounds that consumed staff time. The original developers of GICW’s homegrown systems had retired, and with Microsoft GP approaching end of life in a few years, GICW’s leaders selected Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management as the organization’s modern, cloud-based ERP replacement.

SOLUTION

Sunrise Technologies deployed Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management; an end-to-end replacement of Dynamics GP and the organization’s procurement and expense reporting systems. Highlights of the new solution include:

  • Replacement of legacy and homegrown systems across finance, procurement, inventory, transfer orders, vendor onboarding, workflows, and expense reporting.
  • Automated vendor onboarding via Microsoft Forms and Power Automate, eliminating manual vendor setup in Dynamics 365.
  • Automated invoice journal created with AI Builder and OCR, reducing manual data entry and accelerating invoice processing.
  • Dynamics 365’s cloud-based infrastructure supports Goodwill’s 53 stores and operations, with room to grow.
  • Custom Power Apps for cycle counting/physical inventory and transfer-order receiving scans, reducing manual work.

OUTCOME

GICW now operates on a unified ERP platform with connected financial and procurement processes, improved reporting, and automated workflows. Mobile apps and intelligent automation simplify daily operations, giving employees greater efficiency and visibility while providing a scalable foundation for future growth.
