In a statement today, Sunrise Technologies calls on the North Carolina General Assembly and Governor Pat McCrory to fully repeal North Carolina House Bill 2 (HB2), which essentially negates broader anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) citizens in North Carolina, where Sunrise Technologies is headquartered.
“Sunrise Technologies believes in and is committed to diversity, equality, inclusion, and the rights of the individual. This law is not just an affront to our values as a company, but is incredibly anti-business,” said John Pence, founder and president of Sunrise Technologies.
“We firmly believe that the strongest, and most vibrant economies are those that embrace the strengths and unique attributes of everyone. Our legislature is creating an environment within the state of North Carolina that is neither inclusive, nor representative of the wonderful state that we call home. I would like to personally call on our state representatives and Governor Pat McCrory to repeal NC HB2 with the same zeal and haste that was shown when this misguided law was initially passed.”
