Luxury Skincare and Science
Elemis, a part of L'Occitane group, is a luxury skincare brand that prides itself on fusing skincare science with soothing botanicals. The company sells its products via its wholesale, eCommerce, and retail operations, as well as through high-end spas, salons, and cruise lines.
Founded in 1989 in London, Elemis today is a renowned skincare brand with a global presence. Through its network of spas and retailers, Elemis offers cleansers, masks, serums, creams, and other formulations that combine the best of science and nature. Elemis is also the spa treatment brand of choice for over 90 percent of the world's cruise ships, and is a First Class amenities provider for British Airways, serving over 550,000 travelers annually.
After years of growth into new channels and markets, Elemis's stakeholders knew it was time to upgrade the brand's business applications. Its legacy ERP system was too stretched to handle twenty-first century selling models, and many manual processes created inefficiencies and redundant data. Inventory visibility was another key concern. As a skincare brand, Elemis has a large number of SKUs, almost all of them batch-controlled and subject to additional regulations and compliance tracking. Finally, Elemis leaders knew the value of leveraging its business data to inform decision-making, but lacked a comprehensive platform.
The Elemis team engaged with Sunrise to replace its legacy ERP system for its U.S. division, followed by its headquarters and E.U. division in the United Kingdom. Sunrise deployed Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain, including a complex Advanced Warehousing implementation. During the U.K. phase of the project, the COVID-19 pandemic closed spas and salons, shuttered cruise lines, and grounded air travel — severely curtailing Elemis' operations. Leaders at the company chose to finish its U.K implementation, taking advantage of the slowdown to set itself up for success and stability in the future as operations recovered.
