A Nonprofit Retailer With a Mission
Goodwill Industries® of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc. (Goodwill NYNJ) is a 106-year-old nonprofit organization that provides job training, placement, on-the-job coaching, retention, and wraparound services to help people with disabilities and other barriers to employment grow their careers. Goodwill NYNJ, one of 155 autonomous nonprofit member organizations of Goodwill Industries International, selected Sunrise and Dynamics 365 Finance after deciding to upgrade its legacy systems.
Goodwill NYNJ operates retail thrift stores in Eastern New York and Northern New Jersey. Donated goods are sold in Goodwill NYNJ's retail stores and on its online platform ShopGoodwill.com/NYNJ. Sales proceeds from Goodwill stores fund innovative training and employment support services for people with disabilities and other barriers, and behavioral health services that help individuals with mental illness stay healthy, on their jobs, and out of hospitals due to psychotic episodes. After years of relying on manual processes and legacy systems (including Dynamics NAV), Goodwill NYNJ's leadership team was ready for a change. In order to further Goodwill NYNJ’s double impact of sustainable fashion and power of work and modernize their business operations, Goodwill NYNJ stakeholders upgraded to Dynamics 365 Finance with Sunrise. Sunrise completed this project on time even amidst major challenges, like working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today, Goodwill is well-positioned to serve its communities for many years to come, with a future-proof platform from Microsoft and support from Sunrise.
